Here at the University of Bristol’s Faculty of Engineering, we are renowned for the quality of our teaching, learning, research and scholarship.
We are currently at the early stages of an ambitious growth programme, which will deliver transformational change. This involves increasing the number of students at the Faculty, expanding our programmes and having an even greater international footprint. We also intend to make a major investment in physical spaces within the campus, and across the city, to support world-class research and teaching.
Your role as Dean will be to provide inspirational academic leadership and strategic management – enabling us to develop our change - education, research and partnerships.
Serving on the University Senate and Management Team – and responsible to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost – you will participate in the collective formulation and delivery of the University’s overall academic strategy. You will also deliver the strategic development of the Faculty and foster wider engagement within the city and beyond.
Naturally, the role comes with a wide range of administrative and managerial duties in terms of budget management and the maintenance of robust staff review and development processes.
We are looking for an outstanding track record of academic leadership across disciplines, as well as the ability to lead and motivate a team of senior colleagues to ensure a culture of excellence. You will also have a demonstrable commitment to the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion. Your academic standing should be commensurate with professorial status in one or more of the disciplines within the Faculty.
