Creative, ambitious and keen to develop transformative research, you will relish this excellent opportunity to drive your academic career to a higher level. As an impressive early career researcher, you’ll recognise that securing a Presidential Research Fellowship at the University of Manchester will empower you to unlock your potential. In addition to a good salary for the duration of your Fellowship, you’ll receive several thousand pounds per annum for research support costs and access to key technology platforms. The award will provide you with dedicated research time to pursue outstanding research of international excellence to allow you to apply for prestigious externally funded personal awards. You can look forward to mentoring and assistance in winning these external funding and awards.

As a Presidential Research Fellow, you will support the Faculty’s mission to produce innovative research that benefits society in Manchester, the UK and across the globe. We are recognised as a leading centre of excellence across the biological, medical and health sciences. You will benefit from the distinctively collaborative, partnership approach we have adopted with organisations across the NHS, pharma and third sector. We’re particularly keen to hear from you if you have an interest in any of the following areas: advanced materials for medicine and health; ageing populations; biomedical imaging and image computing; biological timing; cell matrix biology; data sciences and precision medicine; immuno-oncology, neuro-oncology and neuro-immunology although strong applications in other areas will be considered.

To join us, you will need a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification. You’ll bring to the role a sustained record of publication output. Crucially, you will demonstrate the ability to develop a coherent world-leading research programme, with new concepts and ideas to extend intellectual understanding. You have what it takes to organise resources and deliver results to deadlines. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills also equip you to build a team, and to inspire and engage students. The determination to win your own funding will be key to your success.
