Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued. The U-Flyte management team now invite applications for two Post-Doctoral Researchers (PDRAs) to join this exciting new aerial robotics research initiative, funded by Science Foundation Ireland and involving collaboration with Industry partners including Airbus, Irelandia Aviation and Intel. The PDRAs will be responsible for ensuring that the computational aspects of the research workplan encompassing Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Machine Vision are adhered to in terms of tasks, outputs, deliverables and milestones.

The PDRA (AI/Machine Vision) will work with the Principal Investigator (PI), Funded Investigators (FIs), Research Team, Industry Partners and Advisory Committee to ensure that the core research work-packages revolving around U-space modelling, UTM operations and end-use case applications are delivered as set out in the U-Flyte work-plan. This core task will entail having both a clear understanding of the overall aim and objectives of U-Flyte as well as how these translate into a series of integrated work-package tasks and outputs. The successful candidate will work with team members to share their knowledge, experience and ideas as well as overseeing and mentoring U-Flyte PhD candidates. The PDRA will be expected to work closely with the PI and research team to develop AI frameworks and Machine Vision algorithms for a variety of aerial robotic data handling scenarios including real-world scene classification and navigation.

Executive Assistant Salary Scale: €36,854 - €41,413 per annum (13 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
