Our Engineering courses are designed to align to industry needs and their delivery is supported by excellent on campus facilities.  Our degrees are professionally recognised and carry the opportunity to undertake practical, work based activity. These programmes sit within a School which additionally covers Computing and Physical Sciences programmes which offer access to high quality computing and state of the art software systems as well as tried and tested in demand technologies.

The successful candidate will lead the development of our research and enterprise activities in the area of Engineering significantly contributing to and leading our contribution to the next REF submission.  The School’s research is organised into a community of industry focused interdisciplinary research groups.  The successful applicant will establish high value research and commercial activities leading areas related in particular to mechanical, materials or energy related engineering and to collaborate with colleagues across all disciplines to enhance the impact of their research.

The post holder will have an outstanding and substantial track record of published research outputs, aligned with significant successful external funding to support this research.  The post holder will demonstrate willingness and an established ability to positively engage with our key internal and external stakeholders.  A key outcome area will be to mentor and contribute to the development of early career researchers to create a critical mass of research excellence.  This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to lead on strategic research and enterprise development as we move to the formulation of next stage of development.  The University of the West of Scotland offers and promotes a multidisciplinary academic environment and the successful candidate will embrace the opportunity to work across different disciplines.

The successful candidate will be based at our Paisley Campus with scheduled activities at our other campus locations and international partners.
