An exciting opportunity to work as a Continuous Improvement Engineer has arisen as part of a 30 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Cranfield University and Haddonstone Ltd.

Haddonstone (Est. 1971), is a manufacturer and global retailer of Ornamental and Architectural Cast Limestone. Haddonstone Ltd. can mould cast materials into almost any shape – faithfully reproducing new designs or producing replicas that are virtually indistinguishable from an antique original.

As a Continuous Improvement Engineer on this project, you will mainly be based at Haddonstone but will work in conjunction with the Sustainable Manufacturing Systems Centre at Cranfield University. The Centre works with industry for developing sustainable solutions to real-world industry problems. This is achieved by adopting a systems approach to identifying and tackling root causes in an evidence-based manner.

In this role, you will lead the development of simulation models of Haddonstone’s production system and assess technological improvements that can be employed by the company for the continuous improvement of its production. During the project lifespan the successful candidate will enjoy a personal development budget of £5,000. You will also attend a 10 day Associate residential training programme where you will undertake modules centred on the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) level 5 qualification in management.

This role requires a Masters level degree in a manufacturing related subject, together with knowledge in simulation and modelling of manufacturing systems. This role would suit an individual with good team working skills and an ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts effectively for complex systems development projects.

You will build on a heritage of excellence and become a key team member at Haddonstone. Engagement and working with suppliers and customers is actively encouraged from the outset.

For an informal discussion, please contact Dr Konstantinos Salonitis, Reader in Manufacturing Systems, on (T); +44 (0)1234 758347 or (E); k.salonitis@cranfield.ac.uk

At Cranfield we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential.
