The Head of Learning and Teaching is a new role designed to support the University as it embarks on an ambitious strategy to 2026 which has student experience at its core. The role-holder will be pivotal in the effective implementation of a new University Learning and Teaching Strategy, ensuring inclusive practices are threaded through all our academic activities and facilitating our nine Academic Schools to deliver strategic objectives. The role-holder will also take responsibility for coordinating external regulatory processes relevant specifically to learning and teaching, including the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcome Framework (TEF).

Reporting to the Pro-Vice Chancellor Academic, the Head of Learning and Teaching will drive new approaches to staff and student engagement, ensuring students are positioned as partners in pedagogical innovation and curriculum development. Critical to this role is the ability of the Head of Learning and Teaching to foster effective relationships with all staff involved in teaching and supporting learning, and to provide inspirational leadership for the Learning and Teaching Team.

The Head of Learning and Teaching has line management responsibility for 2.0 FTE Senior Lecturers in Academic Practice/Educational Developers and 1.0 FTE administrator. The post is an academic role within a professional service.
