Marketing and Design Specialist
Plan, develop and implement strategies for a comprehensive marketing program to promote the Department of Anesthesiology’s initiatives and programs to specialized audiences in academic (education and research) and clinical focus areas.
Non clinical Marketing efforts - Develop, plan and implement promotional programs to publicize and promote various activities and departmental events; establish methods for increasing participation in such programs. Programs include continuing education conferences for the department and the Morpheus Consortium, IT software related contracts, and preparation for the department’s 50th anniversary in 2021. Provide a monthly Chair newsletter and other marketing initiatives as assigned.
Clinical marketing efforts – Develop programs to increase patient volumes at our various clinical sites; The clinical sites will focus on DIPT, Raleigh Pain and Spine, Duke Raleigh Pain Clinic, Medical Park Pain Clinic, the Perioperative Pain Clinic and other specialty areas as assigned. Each site requires an individualized marketing approach based on location and services offered.
Conduct demographic and other marketing studies to identify trends to maximize effectiveness of marketing efforts; research targeted markets and evaluate marketing strategies to identify potential participants and patients.
Determine appropriate marketing campaigns for the Department of Anesthesiology; maintain liaison with external advertising managers and related persons to coordinate the planning and advertising initiatives.
Design and implement direct mail and social media programs for various initiatives and clinical sites; research, compile and/or purchase specialized mailing lists to reach targeted audiences.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Work requires the ability to perform creative writing and related activities such as conducting interviews and research, and copy editing normally acquired through attainment of a bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or a related discipline.
