Founded in 1963, the University of East Anglia is a campus-based University with a reputation for academic excellence and rigour within a supportive ethos. The University is situated in 320 acres of parkland on the outskirts of the medieval city of Norwich. This location and striking modern campus provide an outstanding quality of life, and the University’s enthusiastic atmosphere and willingness to explore new ideas makes UEA a special place to work. Since its foundation, UEA has become an internationally renowned university providing high-quality academic, social and cultural facilities for over 16000 students. UEA is ranked in the top 200 universities in the world and in the top 15 in the UK, and we are ranked in the world’s top 100 universities for research excellence by the Leiden ranking.

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor is a member of the executive team and plays a vital role in the University’s achievement of its strategic ambitions. The Faculty of Science conducts interdisciplinary research that has fostered a deservedly excellent international reputation. The six Schools are Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computing Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, and Pharmacy. These Schools are bolstered by degree courses in Actuarial Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Physics and Geography.

This is an opportunity for a skilful academic leader with an academic track record of significance, an international research standing in a Sciences subject, a strong management track record, exceptional strategic vision, and a demonstrated capacity to capitalise on the synergies between science disciplines and our partner institutions on the Norwich research park

We support a range of flexible working initiatives, designed to promote a healthy work-life balance as well as supporting staff returning from parental leave and career breaks. Many other aspects of the University contribute to the overall quality of life and work for our staff at UEA, further details can be found here
