The School of Communication & Design prepares Vietnam’s creative leaders of tomorrow through programs in communication, design, fashion. film and video. Role & key responsibilities 

The Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication) is the largest undergraduate program within the School. The program comprises strands in advertising, public relations and media studies. Due to the rapid growth of the program, we are recruiting for experienced Associate Lecturers and Lecturers to contribute strongly to the growth of the advertising discipline against the exciting background of Vietnam’s rapidly growing economy.

We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in branding, communication strategy, consumer behaviour and/or analytics. New directions that we wish to explore include augmented and mixed reality for advertising.

The appointee will be responsible for course coordination at our Ho Chi Minh City campus and is expected to actively promote the program through memberships, links and academic and professional networks. The appointee is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with the teaching team and to regularly update colleagues and students on developments in advertising practice and literature. The appointee may also contribute to other programs within the Department of Communication including the planned Bachelor of Digital Film & Video.

Key selection criteria

  • Lecturer: PhD or equivalent relevant doctoral qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Associate Lecturer: Master degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Significant recent professional experience in the advertising sector: client-side, agency-side or otherwise.
  • Non-Vietnamese applicants: at least 5 years' relevant teaching experience within an university environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver high-quality courses at undergraduate level including the production of high-quality online or offline teaching activities and support materials.
  • Ability to undertake course coordination role with evidence of achieving course learning outcomes and positive student experiences.
  • Ability to network effectively with external partners in order to generate projects and collaborations.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning.
  • Ability to operate within own discipline and cross-disciplinary/multidisciplinary teams to achieve department and University strategic outcomes.
