Postdoctoral research fellow position in plant phenotyping with a focus on intensive image-based phenotypic data analysis is available in the AgroOptics and Imaging (AOI) Lab, and will be based in the College of Biosystems Engineering and Food Science at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, P.R. China. The position will involve close collaboration with engineers, computer scientists, plant breeders, and agronomist. The initial appointment is for two years and continuation is dependent upon satisfactory performance. A global competitive salary and benefit will be provided based on the applicants’ experience.

AOI Lab mainly focuses on agro-optics and optical sensors/sensing development, including fundamental understanding of light interaction with plant materials and engineering applications of optical sensing-based plant phenotyping, UAV remote sensing, deep learning, radiation transfer theory, statistics/mathematical modeling to support crop breeding and agricultural precision management.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in remote sensing, agricultural engineering, statistics, deep learning, computer science, or relevant discipline with a strong background in machine learning methods.
  • Programming skills (Matlab/Python/R/C++) and working knowledge of spectral and image analysis for agricultural applications are highly preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with an established publication record.
  • Proven track record of or strong desire for employing multi-sensor fusion techniques and approaches to take advantage of “big data mining” and software development is a plus.
