The School of Health Sciences is part of a highly successful and vibrant faculty. Frequently commended for our partnership working across the health and social care sector, the School delivers a range of undergraduate and post graduate course that lead to registration in nursing, midwifery, health visiting/school nursing, speech and language therapy, and paramedic science. We also have a wide portfolio of post qualifying provision including the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. The University is currently investing over £3 million in the development of the state of the art simulation centres, the arrival of which will further enhance our record of teaching innovation.

As part of its developing portfolio the School is currently working with its partners to develop and approve an undergraduate programme leading to registration with the HCPC as an operating department practitioner. This will be both a fee paying and apprenticeship offer, and also involves collaboration with our partners at Truro and Penwith College, Cornwall.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motived operating department practitioner who has a passion for education. You will work with our experienced team to implement and teach on our new ODP programmes and will also work closely with our colleagues at Truro and Penwith College.

You will be an HCPC registered operating department practitioner and have some experience of supervising and assessing students in either a university or professional practice setting.

Successful applicants will have opportunity to complete a teaching qualification (PGCHE) and progress through our GOLD framework to achieve HEA fellowship and senior fellowship, as well as contribute to faculty wide research and enterprise activities. Opportunity also exists to undertake doctoral studies through a professional doctorate or PhD programme.
