The Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC) is an interdisciplinary institute at the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) that aims to develop innovative technologies, fundamental research and advanced teaching in the life sciences utilizing strengths in molecular, cellular and developmental biology, biophysics and computational biology. BIOTEC invites applications for the

Chair (W3) of Genomics (m/f/x)

to be filled on October 1, 2022.

You will represent the subject area of Genomics in research and teaching. The Chair of Genomics will integrate into the interdisciplinary research focus at the BIOTEC and complement the activities of the wider Dresden research campus, particularly the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), the Center for Molecular Bioengineering (B CUBE), the cluster of excellence „Physics of Life“ (PoL), the School of Science and the School of Medicine as well as non-university research groups at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG), the Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD) and the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS). Interaction with the DRESDEN-concept Genome Center and the local biotechnology industry as well as an active role in technology transfer are desirable. You will actively engage in the study programs hosted by the CMCB, including the international Masters’ degree programs “Molecular Bioengineering”, “Nanobiophysics”, “Regenerative Biology and Medicine” and “Computational Modelling and Simulation”. We also wish for your commitment to teach in the study programs of the Faculty of Biology and in the Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering (DIGS-BB). We expect your participation in academic self-administration.

We are seeking outstanding applicants with an innovative research program and an international reputation in the field of Genomics. Ideally, you will integrate experimental and computational approaches to answer exceptional questions in biology at the molecular level. An excellent, international publication record, teaching experience and a proven ability to attract third-party funding are required. We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging researcher and teacher to help shape the future of our institute and who is able to inspire our students with high motivation and didactic skills. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).

If you have any questions, please contact the Deputy Director of the BIOTEC, Prof. Simon Alberti, Tel. +49 351 463-40243, email: biotec@tu-dresden.de.
