The International Institute (IHI) Zittau, a Central Academic Unit at the TU Dresden, invites applications for the

Chair (W3) of Business Management, esp. Responsible Management

to be filled at April 1st 2021.

The region, in which IHI Zittau is situated, can be looked at as a role model for the opportunities and threats of a region of transformation: On the one hand, it is situated in the centre of a triangle between the Central European growth regions Dresden, Prague and Wrocław, which attract a new, innovative entrepreneurial generation. On the other hand, it is a region, confronted with the consequences of (post-socialist) deindustrialisation, serving as an “extended workbench” for big companies, facing demographical shrinking and aging. Existing academic and economic networks in the Euroregion Neisse can be used and extended. Additionally, the chair will be bound into the comprehensive expertise and interdisciplinary and international networks of TU Dresden (such as PRISMA, the cross-faculty Centre for Sustainability Assessment and Policy). A second membership of the professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics is aimed at.

Responsible management is orientated towards the triple bottom line of ecological, economical and social sustainability (Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility). While ecology and traditional economy are already covered at IHI Zittau by several chairs, the advertised chair should focus on the social aspects of responsible management under the special circumstances of regions of transformation. The field of research, that enfolds here, is of general interest: How can responsible and interculturally sensible management become an opportunity for regions of transformation – in Germany, in Europe and worldwide?

As teaching is concerned, the holder of the chair will participate in a leading role in the strategic further development and internationalisation of the masters‘ programmes „Business Ethics and Responsible Management“ and „International Management“. The teaching profile should include themes such as strategy and organisation, human resources management, business and management ethics, corporate social responsibility, stakeholder management and corporate governance. We expect good teaching skills as well as the ability and willingness to offer courses in English. Proficiency of the German language is not a prerequisite for appointment. However, we expect the successful candidate to acquire language skills sufficient to conduct teaching and administrative tasks within two years after appointment. We also expect the willingness to participate in the academic selfadministration.

The applicant shall demonstrate the quality of her/his work and international standing through first-class publications in internationally refereed journals and holds scientific expertise in at least two of the issues, named in the description of the teaching profile of the chair. She/he shows evidence of experience in acquiring external funding in previous functions. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG). Generally an applicant's additional scientific performance is presented in the form of a habilitation, successfully evaluated Junior Professorship or another academic accomplishment of equal value.
