The successful candidate will be responsible for bioinformatics and statistical genetics support in the Breast Cancer Genetics group led by Professor Elinor Sawyer.

The research will focus on progression of in situ breast cancer to invasive breast cancer and genetic susceptibility to breast cancer with particular emphasis on ductal carcinoma in situ and lobular breast cancer.

The main responsibility of the post-holder will be the analyses and interpretation of next generation sequencing data (exome, targeted sequencing, RNA-seq) and microarray data (methylation and SNP arrays) from a large cohort of ductal carcinoma in situ in order to identify biomarkers of invasive progression.

This work is part of a CRUK Grand Challenge Grant – PRECISION and the post holder will work closely with other bioinformaticians and scientists in the PRECISION consortium at the Sanger Centre, the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Duke University and others (http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/funding-for-researchers/how-we-deliver-research/grand-challenge-award/funded-teams-wesseling).

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years and 2 months (1 March 2020- 31 April 2022). 

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.
