Department of Chemistry

The Department places a strong emphasis on both quality education and scholarly research/services, and has reached a significant milestone where its educational programmes are not only innovative but also accessible, and its major areas of research strengths are well recognised and supported.

The Department offers BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, BSc (Hons) in Analytical and Testing Sciences, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, MPhil (by research), and PhD degrees. It presently has approximately 190 undergraduate students, 60 taught postgraduate students and 50 research students and project staff.

Chair Professor / Professor (PR0237/19-20) 

The appointee should possess a PhD in Chemistry or relevant disciplines, with chemical biology, biomaterial or bio-analytics background. Proven track record of collaborative research and strong commitment in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels are required. Preference will be given to those with world-class research experience in the above areas, appealing external grant record and outstanding publications.

The appointment is offered on a tenure track. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
