Faculty / Directorate

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at De Montfort University educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. It is home to the Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences in which this post will be based. The faculty also includes the
School of Applied Social Sciences, School of Nursing and Midwifery, and the Leicester School of Pharmacy.

Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics to jointhe team on a Permanent, Full time basis!

The main part of the role will be working within a team to develop a Postgraduate Taught course in Bioinformatics Scientist. The course will be designed around the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education Apprenticeship standards. The course needs to be designed to also attract non-apprentices including international students. You will be instrumental in the development of an innovative curriculum and will eventually be part of the programme team delivering the course. The role will naturally allow for
research, collaboration and enterprise, the school has an excellent record in offering a range of opportunities and promotes creativity.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must hold a PhD or alternative postgraduate qualifications and equivalent experience in Bioinformatics or closely-related discipline, supported by experience of teaching Bioinformatics at a higher education level and/or a high level industrial experience. You should have experience in
programming (Lynex/Python and/ or R) and a proven track record ofbioinformatics analysis. Having experience in application of various statistical methods (parametric and non-parametric tests/
correlations/regressions/systematic reviews and meta-analysis) on bioinformatic analysis will be highly desirable. You will have a record of continuing professional development.
