Post-doctoral Research Fellow (Assistant)

Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for adult ADHD: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

The post-doctoral Research Fellow will work with Prof. Cortese and other world leaders in the field of evidence synthesis, including Prof. Andrea Cipriani (University of Oxford) on an NHIR funded project (PI: Prof Cortese) aimed at conducting the first ever systematic review and network meta-analysis comparing the efficacy and tolerability of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for adults with ADHD. The study results will have important implications in terms of informing clinical practice and service organisation. This project builds on an extensive track record of research projects in the field of evidence synthesis of the efficacy and tolerability of ADHD interventions by Prof Cortese and collaborators (eg, Cortese et al, Lancet Psychiatry, 2018, focused on pharmacological interventions for ADHD, has been cited more than 400 times and has informed several guidelines worldwide). The bulk of the work required from the post-doctoral RA can be conducted remotely.

The post-doc will have the opportunity to learn cutting edge methods in the field of evidence synthesis of randomised controlled trials and to work in a multidisciplinary and international group including worked experts in evidence synthesis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for ADHD, and persons with lived experience.

The candidate will have a PhD or be working towards the completion of a PhD and experience in conducting systematic reviews. It is desirable that thecandidate has prior experience in conducting (network) meta-analyses. Other criteria are: sound knowledge of RCT methods, and proven ability to express ideas and disseminate findings effectively and good writing skills. Applicants should be able to work independently as well as co-operate with other members of the research team.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given
