The Department of Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) at Northumbria University delivers creative teaching and conducts world-class research in our award-winning, state-of-the-art building. Our research targets some of the biggest challenges we currently face, including global health and wellbeing, sustainability, safety and security, and digital living and learning. In the most recent REF exercise (REF2021) we returned 88% of eligible staff (64.4 FTE) in the Computer Science and Informatics UoA.

We are seeking to make an appointment to complement and expand our research and teaching capability in the areas of digital forensics, digital investigationsand cybercrime. The post has a specific focus on our Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), an academic and professional programme jointly delivered by officers from Northumbria Police and academic staff from across Northumbria University.

The successful candidate must hold a first degree and be qualified to doctoral level in a relevant discipline, with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy. A proven ability to deliver high quality research and teaching is essential, together with a publication profile and track record of bidding for external income that is appropriate for the post.
