We are seeking an ambitious Research Associate with real interest in sustainability of supply chains to ensure the Lincoln International Business School’s contribution to the current debate on sustainable, net zero, and circular supply chains, in the wake of COP26 and post-pandemic green recovery.

The University of Lincoln, and particularly Lincoln International Business School, are committed to support key stakeholders in developing more sustainable supply chains. We are engaged in a wide-range of regional large-scale projects, such as town deals, freeport, etc. Our latest research projects include participation in Innovation UK, Midlands Engine Supply Observatory – Supply Chain, and Management-KTP, among others.

The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects on:

  • Sustainable supply chains and regional development
  • Net zero supply chains
  • Synergy between sustainability and high-tech enabled chains
  • Green recovery and enhanced firms’ productivity
  • Greening of sector’s supply chains: food, defence

As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to support the development of a new Lincoln Smart, Sustainable, and Circular Chains Lab at Lincoln International Business School. You will be involved in bids to be submitted to research councils such as the ESCR and be able to engage with local stakeholders, including the possibility of bidding for Management KTPs.

To succeed in this role, you will have knowledge and skills on:

  • Green, Sustainable, Circular, Smart chains: past, present, and future
  • Greater Lincolnshire’s challenges and opportunities around sustainable chains
  • Strong research methodology: qualitative (particularly in depth-interviews and content analysis underpinned by NVIVO) and quantitative (particularly structural equation modeling and advanced statistics)
  • Research funding system in the UK and in the Midlands
  • Ethics frameworks for world class research at the University of Lincoln

You will report to Lincoln’s Smart, Sustainable and Circular Chains co-heads. You must hold a PhD or DBA in sustainable supply chain topics, and track record of publications and submissions of bids to research councils. You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and associated activities. The ability to engage with University’s stakeholders is relevant.

Please upload a CV and supporting statement on ‘How I will support the development of the sustainable supply chain area within Lincoln International Business School’ as part of your online application.
