Job Description

The National University of Singapore is looking for a Research Fellow for a research project. We seek a highly motivated and an organized scientist with a background in computational biology, bioinformatics or related fields. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to independently create computational/bioinformatics pipelines/workflows to assemble, annotate, and interpret plant and/or microbial genomes. The position is within a multi-disciplinary research team, which broadly pursues microbiomes and physiological investigations on plants systems/agriculture and allied domains. The team consists of postdoctoral fellows, PhDs and other research assistants.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in genomics/bioinformatics/computational biology with demonstrated experience through peer reviewed publications in international journals (at least 2-3) in the above-mentioned areas
  • A self-initiated researcher with an innate capacity for systemic and cross-disciplinary thinking
  • Able to plan and create the pipeline for genome assembly and annotation of key plant and microbial species from different environments
  • Be responsible for interpreting genomic data to identify physiological and evolutionary underpinnings of key phenomena/functions
