Reporting to:
Director, People and Culture

This position leads the Organisational Development and Diversity function through creating strategies and programs that build capability, support effective change management and positively influence the culture to support the achievement of the s strategic plan.

This includes accountability for the following:

  • Professional development including leadership
  • Performance review and development process
  • Capability frameworks
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Reward and Recognition
  • Change Management

This position is a member of the People and Culture Leadership Team and will contribute to the development and implementation of the P&C Strategy, plans and objectives.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Develop a leadership capability framework for the University reflecting the different structures and needs for the academic and professional workforces.
  • Lead a review of the Diversity and Inclusion strategy to establish a clearly prioritised actions, resourcing, and governance.
  • Source a scalable capability for professional development and clearly define programs that need to be developed and delivered in house versus brokered from the external market.
  • Develop a centralised change management capability for the University that is consistently applied and supports all stakeholders.
  • Drive improvement in the performance review and development process across the university.
  • Through collaboration with OCME ensure a consistent and engaging narrative in employee communications linked to priority areas from culture related surveys such as Your Voice.
  • Accountability for annual compliance reporting on diversity related matters including WGEA.
  • Represent People and Culture on University Committees and/or working groups as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the P&C Business Partners and the Legal team or external providers to ensure the best quality advice and guidance is provided.
  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the supervisor and or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, or related discipline.
  • Previous experience leading the development of organisation wide capability frameworks particularly in leadership.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of organisational culture and approaches to positively influencing cultural change.
  • Extensive experience in working with senior leadership teams to develop strategies and interventions to drive change at divisional and organisational level.
  • Experience in leading the development and execution of D&I strategies across a large and complex organisation.
  • Evidence of highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, including coaching and mentoring, advocacy and influencing skills, presentation and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Motivated, resilient team player with a drive to support the overall strategic People and Culture and University objectives.
  • Sound understanding of contemporary People and Culture management theory and practice.
  • Demonstrated understanding of People and Culture policies and practices as they apply within the University sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing and ensuring the independent and effective management of complex industrial matters.
  • Evidence of highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, including coaching and mentoring, advocacy and influencing skills, presentation and report writing skills.
  • Evidence of advanced analytical and problem-solving skills in the diagnosis of sensitive and complex matters and in providing innovative and practical solutions on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Motivated, resilient team player with a drive to support the overall strategic People and Culture and University objectives.
