The Faculty of Engineering and Science offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are widely recognised for their academic quality, innovation and close ties to the industries in which our graduates work. We aim to ensure that we equip our graduates with the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace upon graduation and throughout their professional careers. Presently, the University is seeing an exceptional period of growth and particular success in attracting undergraduate, postgraduate and apprentice students, the creation of this new role reflects this growth and an investment into Engineering.

The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. The successful candidate will take an important role in the development and delivery of teaching and research in this area. Applicants must have the potential or proven ability to develop an internationally recognised research program, excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This is a newly created post for the School of Engineering and the post holder will be part of our mechanical engineering portfolio; but will interface with colleagues teaching Power Electronics and Machines to support our rapidly expanding apprentice cohort. Expertise in one or more of the following areas will advantageous: Sustainable Manufacturing, Electrical Drivetrains, Electromechanical Systems, Automotive Systems Engineering and Lightweight Vehicle Design and Manufacturing.

Candidates must possess a PhD and combine excellence in teaching with demonstrated capacity to conduct novel, interdisciplinary engineering research in any mechanical engineering discipline that will expand and complement the School of Engineering’s research strengths.  In exceptional circumstances, there may be an opportunity to extend the post to Senior Lecturer.
