Southampton Education School, based in the Faculty of Social Sciences, was ranked 7th by intensity from 76 Education departments in the UK.  The School is one of the foremost Education departments in Europe.

Due to growth of the School and in line with its ambition to be a world-leading centre for research and teaching, this flourishing School is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor and Three Lecturers whose interests and expertise align with our Research, Education, Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise activities.  

The successful applicants will join one of the following research centres: 

  • Centre for Research in Inclusion
  • Leadership, Effective Education and Policy
  • Mathematics, Science and Health Education Research Centre

Applications are invited from those who have a successful track record of research and publication in a field of education that aligns with one of our research centres and whose ambitions are in line with those of the School. You will have a PhD (or equivalent), experience in Education as a discipline, and relevant teaching experience.  

You will be expected to teach across a range of courses reflecting your academic interests and experience, and to participate fully in the research activities of the School.  Applications will be particularly welcome from candidates who can demonstrate capability to teach in the following areas:

  • Globalisation and Social Change
  • Inclusion
  • Innovation in Education
  • Language and Literacy / English as a medium of instruction
  • Leadership and Management in Education
  • Mathematics and Science Education

You will be an integral member of our programme teams and one of the research centres and therefore need to be a team player as well as capable of developing and leading your own research agenda. You will be able to demonstrate how you will be ready for future REF submission through a publication record and research trajectory that demonstrates high quality. There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and expertise through staff development courses and events.
