Applications are invited for the post of researcher in the Department of Drama, Theatre and Dance, in partnership with the Young Vic Theatre. The successful applicant will undertake research in Young Vic’s new INNOVATE programme, a theatre education project, led by the Young Vic Taking Part department with two schools in Lambeth and Southwark, South London. The successful applicant will work closely with Professor Helen Nicholson, who is leading the research, to examine the impact this place-based project has on the learning for students, teachers, and artists as well as the local community. You will work alongside young people, teachers, and artists, and will analyse the effects of INNOVATE on teaching and learning, how the arts influence engagement across the curriculum and school life. 

We invite applicants who are educated to PhD level, or have equivalent experience of research in the cultural and creative sector and/ or education. You will be an outstanding communicator who is adaptable and creative, and interested in engaging young people and teachers in the research process as co-producers. You will have the ability to share findings in different forms (including presentations, industry-focused reports). You will also have the potential to organise events that bring together theatre and education professionals and community groups.

You will have bespoke opportunities for professional development, and welcomed as a valued part of Royal Holloway’s research environment. You will be able to build a portfolio of skills with external agencies within the framework of the research project.
