Job description
 
We are looking for a highly motivated research associate for a 3 year fixed term position to work within a research team on an exciting trial of digital peer support for carers of individuals with motor neurone disease funded by Marie Curie and the MND Association. The research team has developed a digital peer support programme via the secure e-platform aTouchaway™ for these carers. The trial will measure the effect of this programme on carer outcomes including mental health as well as positive and negative effects of caregiving.  
 
This research associate role will be focused on the successful delivery of the trial working closely with the chief investigator and the research team. Experience related to clinical trial conduct would be an asset. Applicants should have a MSc degree or equivalent in a health-related field and experience in research conduct. Ability to maintain quantitative research databases or qualitative interviewing and analysis skills are required. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are essential as are strong communication skills and ability to multi task at a fast pace are required.  
 
You will be responsible to the Chief Investigator Professor Louise Rose, who is a Head of the Research Division Applied Technologies in Clinical Care in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care (NMPC) at King’s College London.

In the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, we are ranked number 3 in the world. 
 
This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 3 years
This is a full-time  post - 100% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities
 

  • Responsible for day-to-day project conduct, coordinating evaluation activities and working in partnership with the research team 
  • Ensuring projects and documentation maintain good practice in relation to research conduct 
  • Assist with participant recruitment 
  • Assist with data collection and management (both quantitative and qualitative) 
  • Contribute to data analysis 
  • Contribute to development of study materials, report writing, peer reviewed publications, and future grant applications 
  • Dissemination activities including social media 
  • Coordinate team meetings and activities.

Skills, knowledge, and experience 


Essential criteria
 
1.       MSc degree in relevant discipline. 
2.       Experience of working on a research team in a health setting. 
3.       Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and research governance. 
4.       Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint. 
5.       Excellent organisational skills and time management. 
6.       Excellent communication skills both oral and written. 
7.       Confidence with digital technology. 
 
Desirable criteria
 
1.       Experience in the delivery of clinical trials and working with studies on the CRN Portfolio. 
 
* Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
