Job Description

The Department of History at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Associate Professor in Public History to commence in August 2022. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or Public History at the time of appointment.

We seek applications from candidates with demonstrated experience in conducting collaborative projects with museums, archives, heritage organizations, local communities, and public agencies.  The position is open to scholars in any geographic and chronological specialization, with a preference for candidates who can customize the theory and practice of Public History for Asian contexts, work with digital methods, and excel in interdisciplinary approaches.  Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  NUS is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

Application dossiers should include a complete list of publications, research interests, public historical work, and teaching experience, as well as any other relevant information; a covering letter explaining why the position at NUS is of interest; and the names and contact information of no less than four referees. Review of applications will begin on December 30, 2021. The search will continue until an appointment is made.
