We welcome applications from prospective Research Fellows in AI and Autonomous Systems with experience in designing, training, and validation of machine learning, to work in the Centre for Autonomous and Cyber-physical Systems. This exciting new role is not assigned to a specific research project and will be part of the new Human Machine Intelligence Research Group to support a variety of research and teaching activities going forwards.
About the Role
Our reputation for leading in the field of digital systems: sensor data, communications, machine learning, and reasoning - has been established through more than thirty years of research into this field. The research group you would be joining is primarily focused in research on trustworthy and secure AI and data communications for future autonomous air and land systems. Research works span from fundamental research and development to single client contract research and development. Our work covers academic provision (MSc and PhD) and research.
You will be educated to doctoral level (or very close to completion) in a relevant subject and your skills & knowledge will mean you can contribute to research & teaching activities such as (1) research in machine learning for autonomous systems (especially in aerospace and transport sector), (2) teaching in basic data science and machine learning for engineers in our MSc course, (3) engage with business and defence stakeholders to develop research projects, and (4) assist in activities in the group with other academics. You will be expected to collaborate with the existing staff working in the same group and centre and have communications and meetings with our collaborators within the university, the industrial and defence partners, or in other universities.
