The University of Southampton invites applicants to join its UKRI funded Clean Air Champion team (part of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Strategic Priorities Fund Clean Air Programme). The Champions bring together the UK’s world-class air quality research base to develop practical solutions for air quality issues. The Champions are Professor Sir Stephen Holgate, MRC Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology, and Dr Jenny Baverstock, Senior Research Fellow and fellow champion Dr Gary Fuller, Imperial College London. The Clean Air Programme is a £42.5 million research and innovation investment supported through the UK Research and Innovation Strategic Priorities Fund. The aim is to bring together the UK's world-class research base and support high quality multi- and inter- disciplinary research and innovation to develop practical solutions for today’s air quality issues and equip the UK to proactively tackle future air quality challenges, in order to protect health and support clean growth.
This vacancy is in the Faculty of Medicine, School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences. You will provide professional services within the Clean Air Champion team, supporting work with partners and stakeholders. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of agreed activity, ensuring plans complement and support the Clean Air Champion and Clean Air Programme objectives and communications activities. You will have primary responsibility for all external communications, drafting, preparing and disseminating communication and publicity material using multiple channels including print, web and social media and press releases and events. Working closely with the Team’s partners and funders, the post-holder will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, development, delivery and maintenance of all communication channels, taking the lead in co-ordinating the information provided, managing and developing on-line resources, as well as promoting the full range of the Clean Air Champion Team’s internal and external activities.
You will be a self-motivated and proactive individual able to provide operational direction and management of a busy workload. You will have previous experience of working with and supporting senior academic colleagues. Relevant knowledge of University processes/systems and previous research support or research council experience is desirable. The role is offered on a fixed term contract until 31 May 2022. Flexible working hours will be considered for this role.
