Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow in the Sleep and Health Laboratory, Centre for Sleep and Cognition, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (https://sites.google.com/site/sleepandhealthlab/home). 

Research at the Sleep and Health Laboratory focuses on the importance of sleep in cognitive, mental, and physical health. Appointments will be made on a 2-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The successful candidate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the various studies on time. The Research Fellow’s principal role will be to work in study management, data collection and analyses, as well as manuscript and report writing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will need to:

  1. oversee the general management of studies; 
  2. undertake the day to day running of the various studies, e.g. data collection in the laboratory and at participants’ homes;
  3. process and analyse data;
  4. prepare articles for publication in academic journals;
  5. assist in preparing funding proposals, as well as both progress and final reports of the studies;
  6. coordinate research across research groups both within and beyond Singapore;
  7. maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures; 
  8. assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  • have a PhD in Psychology, Behavioural Science, or a related discipline;
  • a demonstrated interest and good background in conducting human subjects research, including a track record of publication;
  • be able to work independently and supervise a team of research assistants;
  • have a good written and oral command of English (preferably Chinese as well as candidate may need to face caregivers of children who can only speak Chinese); and
  • be able to use SPSS / SAS / R / Matlab; good command of E-prime and Python would be an advantage.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
