A position is available in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton for a Mixed Methods Research Fellow. The position is based at Aldermoor Health Centre in the Primary Care and Population Sciences Academic Unit. Remote working will be considered.

The project aims to develop and validate population clusters that consider health and social care determinants and subsequent need for people with multiple long-term conditions (MLTC-M) within large national databases. The research will use data-driven artificial intelligence methods that will be compared to expert-driven approaches. This is alongside substantial qualitative work packages to establish key biological, psycho-social, economic and environmental variables that are necessary considerations in the delivery of integrated and tailored health care. 

The post holder will have strong mixed methods skills and be able to contribute to both quantitative and qualitative work packages including obtaining ethical approval, writing study protocols, contributing to recruitment of participants, conducting semi-structured interviews on the telephone, carrying out cohort analysis of data using STATA and writing up findings for publication. This programme of work is funded by the NIHR.

You will be educated to degree level and must have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification in health care, social science, statistics or a relevant subject area. You will be able to work to deadlines and manage your time independently. You will possess excellent organisational skills. Previous experience of both qualitative and quantitative research and publication is essential.

This post is offered full-time, on a fixed term contract of 24 months. Part-time or job share will be considered.
