Clinically relevant biochemical, immunological and cellular biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease and aging

Dr. Zdenek Spacil is searching for a talented and highly motivated scientist experienced in mass spectrometry and cell culture. The primary responsibilities will include cerebral organoids' cell culture as a model system for Alzheimer's disease and the application of mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and proteomics to study the underlying mechanisms and early disease biomarkers. The candidate will be involved in a multidisciplinary project combining advanced analytical technology with state-of-the-art cell biology to advance life sciences and medicine.

Biomarkers of health and disease research group led by Zdenek Spáčil zdenek.spacil@recetox.muni.cz is engaged in metabolomics and targeted proteomics, pioneering non-genetic factors affecting human health.

We require

  • Ph.D. degree obtained within past five years in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or related field
  • Previous research experience and a solid track record of relevant publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals (i.e., WoS, SCOPUS)
  • Practical experience with bioanalytical mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, and data processing
  • Capability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, to solve problems independently, resourcefulness, good science writing and oral communication skills, excellent documentation skills

We offer an initial one-year appointment with the possibility to extend.
