of Sociology with a Focus on Social Inequalities and Social Structures
(Chair)

 

commencing as soon as possible.

The professorship covers sociology in research and teaching with a focus on social inequalities and social stratification. Excellent knowledge of theory and empirical research in this field is expected. We are looking for a scholar with proficiency in empirical research and development of social theories on national, international and/or global inequalities. Candidates are expected to consider complex interactions of causes, dimensions and consequences of social inequalities. With this research and teaching profile, the professorship contributes to the diverse research traditions and paradigms at the LMU Sociology Department.

The tasks of the professorship include internationally visible research and publications as well as competitively acquired research project funds. Teaching is to be provided primarily in the bachelor's and master's programs in sociology, particularly with courses on social stratification, social policy, social differentiation and social inequalities, as well as courses on sociological diagnoses of present societies. The chair also contributes to the teaching program in qualitative and/or quantitative empirical methods. The holder of the position is expected to participate in strengthening the international profile of the LMU Sociology Department.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.
