Job Description

The research group Electrification Suite & Test Lab (ESTL) in TUMCREATE puts an emphasis on the interaction of the electricity grid with advanced electrified public transport systems for Singapore. Ranging from charging infrastructure optimisation to demand side management and integration of renewable energies, ESTL covers many hierarchy levels of the electrification concept in the context of the major goals of TUMCREATE.

A research project has been established to different modalities of IoT (Internet of Things)/CPS (Cyber-Physical Systems) devices. Devices with physical sensing are often of different nature in each device and are limited to a single functionality. There is no availability of ground truth of such measurements to assess their validity and authenticity. The existing hardware can be modified to obtain additional data without introducing extra hardware. This data can be used to achieve consensus on the data validation using distributed consensus mechanisms.

The goal of this position is to develop mutli-modal sensing of IoT devices in a decentralized/distributed network. The main tasks are:

  • Design and demonstrate multi-modality in existing devices to obtain additional information.
  • Develop algorithms to establish communication among devices for consensus with minimal overhead.
  • Implement the algorithm in a hardware testbed to demonstrate the working of the algorithm.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of Algorithms and Embedded programming.
  • Very good C and python programming skills.
  • Reliable, independent and scientific work style.
