Post Doctoral Research Fellow

Role Summary:

We’re looking for an ambitious researcher to join our established research team. We specialise in work in the domain of philanthropy and are the home of the new discipline of philanthropic psychology. Our interests lie in the development of philanthropy around the world, but doing so by attending to the quality of the donor experience. We study how giving can contribute to the psychological wellbeing of supporters and how enhancing that can in turn increase giving.

We’re looking for a confident data analyst and thus someone who can be responsible for the design and management of a wide range of field and lab-based experimental research programs. You will be capable of analysing complex datasets, leading on the publication of results and disseminating the results to both academic and professional audiences. You will also be involved in the development and delivery of educational programmes (using our results) in the fields of philanthropy, fundraising and psychology. Some international travel may be required for conferences and other events.

Our ideal candidate will have completed their Phd and had experience of working as part of a team in an academic research setting. We would also be interested in hearing from candidates with a background in commercial marketing research noting our requirement that good quantitative skills are essential.

 

Our Ideal Candidate Profile

Essential Knowledge, Education & Training:

  • PhD in psychology, marketing, or other relevant field
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint
  • Advanced knowledge of SPSS, Stata, R and PROCESS modelling

Desirable Experience:

  • Evidence of publications in 3, 4 or 4* equivalent journals
  • Experience in analysing large-scale client databases
  • Experience of designing, implementing and analysing experimental, implicit, and survey research methods.
  • Significant experience of undertaking applied qualitative and quantitative research projects
  • Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Use of a wide range of research methods and techniques
  • Use of a range of statistical analysis techniques
  • A high level of organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use initiative in problem-solving and identifying solutions and actions.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as independently.
  • Understanding of and respect for confidentiality
