Fixed Term 24 Months

Full-time: 35 hours per week

The School of Computing, Engineering & Physical Sciences (CEPS) at UWS is well established and an internationally recognised academic centre. The School has extensive expertise in research and development and collaborative working relationships with multinational companies.

We are seeking to recruit a talented Research Fellow to develop integrated concept demonstrators for showcasing in national and international events. This will help to establish new links with industry and research institutes/universities whilst providing test bed platforms for on-going research projects/collaborations.

Internationally recognised academic support will be provided by a close community of industry-focused inter-disciplinary research groups (AVCN and AHCSE) and the successful applicant should exhibit entrepreneurial flair, and proactively communicate with researchers throughout the University.

The successful candidate must possess:

As a minimum, educated to PhD or close to completion of Phd with a relevant degree that combines aspects of software development. Experience of software development in C/C++, Python or Matlab; Mathematical modelling and familiarity with the following technologies would be an advantage: image/video processing, artificial neural network, deep learning; understanding of agile software development methodologies; including software documentation, technical writing, preparation, and delivery of user training; experience of systems integration and optimisation challenges and approaches;

Essential skills we require as a minimum:

Organisational skills with the ability to plan under own initiative and to work to deadlines

Good communication and interpersonal skills including report writing

Ability to collaborate with colleagues and sharing expertise.

Strong analytical and numerical skills

Ability to understand and process data
