Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Creative Writing (Fiction) in the English Department.

Applications are invited for the post of part-time lecturer in Creative Writing (fiction) in the Department of English, Royal Holloway. We are seeking applicants with a track record of creative outputs that speak to the representation and formation of diasporic identities, forced migration and refugee experience. An ability to contribute to the department’s teaching / outreach profile through a secondary specialism in one of the following areas is desirable: global literatures, post-colonial theory, gender politics, journalism, non-fiction and / or screen-writing. 

The role holder will join a department ranked 2nd in UK for BA English and Creative writing (Complete University Guide 2021), with an internationally renowned MA in Creative Writing and a team of acclaimed, prize-winning writers.  The role holder will have opportunities to teach and devise specialist options at BA and MA level as well as co-supervise practice-based PhD students. Teaching responsibilities may be split across the College’s main site at Egham (where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London), and at the College’s central London building in Bedford Square WC1, where our MA in Creative Writing is based.

You will have an international profile as a writer, a strong publication record in the field and successful experience of teaching at University level. You will have demonstrated the ability to work with others in teaching and/or administration. The successful appointee will show commitment to furthering the collective success of the English department through supporting our programmes of public talks and other outreach work.

This is a half-time, permanent post, available from January 2022.
