Job Details

We are looking to recruit an outstanding candidate to the post of Deputy Director of the Qatar Centre for Global Banking and Finance (QCGBF).  Located in King’s Business School, the recently established QCGBF is a research centre dedicated to study of central banks and the challenges they face in the global financial system.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Centre’s Director in shaping the development of the QCGBF in the years ahead, establishing its reputation internationally as a centre of excellence in central banking issues.  In this role, she/he will contribute substantively to the research activities of the Centre, including by organising high-profile conferences, workshops, and seminars.  The postholder will also be expected to enhance the Centre’s teaching capacity, both within the business school and the executive education offering in London and Qatar.

The successful candidate must have an international profile in the field of economics or finance, and significant experience working in a central bank or financial regulator.  She/he should hold a PhD in Economics/Finance or related discipline and demonstrate the potential to contribute substantially to the research capacity of King’s Business School via a high-quality track record of publications in leading refereed journals.

The Centre’s research broad programme is centred around three main themes: (1) rethinking central bank mandates, policy frameworks and governance arrangements, including macroprudential policy; (2) understanding new and emerging threats to economic and financial stability, including issues related to climate change and to structural changes in the financial system and innovations in financial technology; and (3) developing new techniques for understanding the economy and for forecasting its evolution, including new data analytics approaches.

We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates as they are currently under-represented within the faculty at this level.

King’s Business School is the ninth and newest faculty at King’s College London.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time  post.
