Hartpury University and Hartpury College

Vice-Chancellor, Principal and CEO

Hartpury University and Hartpury College – collectively known as Hartpury – are recognised as two outstanding specialist organisations. Working side-by-side on one campus, we are committed to achieving parity of esteem for higher and further education. As a specialist niche provider, we deliver relevant, effective, high-quality education and training for employment in sport, equine, animal and agriculture disciplines. We are a diverse learning community of over 4,000 ambitious students, and our staff are experts in their field. Our range of qualifications for those aged 16+ are designed to suit different learning styles and abilities, and our student outcomes are exceptional.

Our stunning, state-of-the-art, 360-hectare campus is one of the UK’s best-kept secrets. We have some of the most advanced facilities found at any educational institution worldwide, and over the last 10 years we have invested more than £50M in our campus. We're home to nine specialist businesses, an £8M sports academy, a commercial farm, and canine, equine and rider performance centres. With a global reputation in our areas of specialism, we have excellent connections with some of the world’s biggest names and brands.

We are seeking an outstanding Vice-Chancellor, Principal and CEO to succeed Russell Marchant, who retires in 2022. The successful candidate will lead Hartpury through its next phase of growth and development, and be a visible presence on campus and externally. Together with the governors, leadership team, and academic and professional services colleagues, they will build on everything we have achieved by continuing to innovate and evolve, giving our students the best possible experience and environment in which to develop and thrive. The new Vice-Chancellor, Principal and CEO will bring senior strategic leadership and management experience gained in a complex education provider or closely related organisation, and will provide academic, strategic and organisational leadership that captures our ambition and drive. They will also embody Hartpury’s ethos and values, and be the guardian of our mission, culture and values.
