About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering as EOS Chair. In this newly established position, you will be responsible for shaping the future of Microwave, Photonic Engineering and Applied Electromagnetics within the School, harnessing the power of both research and teaching excellence to focus on the frontier disciplines of applied electromagnetics, broadband microwave and photonic engineering, satellite terminals and systems, and phased antenna arrays.

The role will see you producing high-standard research contributions in frontier microwave, mm-wave and photonics engineering and applied electromagnetics, leading to increased international recognition for the University of Queensland’s researchers, and fostering of collaboration with a cutting-edge industrial partner based in Queensland.

In addition to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering the successful candidate will also be responsible for providing leadership, developing new and innovative course offerings and building effective strategic collaborations with Australia’s Space agency and Defence Science and Technology.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this position you should possess a PhD in the area of Microwave and Optic Engineering, Applied Electromagnetics or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a distinguished record of scholarly teaching and academic leadership.

You will be internationally recognised with demonstrated leadership in the field of Microwave and Optic Engineering, Applied Electromagnetics or a related field combined with experience in liaising and collaborating with external agencies (academic, research, government, and/or industry) to develop co-operative research initiatives with the ability to influence and negotiate with a range of stakeholders.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at Academic level E.

The full-time equivalent base salary for a Level E (Academic) is $189,131 plus super of up to 17% (total package available will be up to $221,283). A competitive remuneration package may be negotiated with the successful candidate.
