Join a growing research team in Adelaide working to advance Australia’s critical mineral resource potential.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated Earth scientist to undertake geological research on the igneous origins and rare metal (REE, Nb, Zr) mineralisation potential of alkaline volcanic rocks of Central Queensland. The position is funded through the Geological Survey of Queensland.

The successful applicant will join the newly-established and growing Australian Critical Minerals Research Centre within the Department of Earth Sciences at The University of Adelaide. The research work will involve close collaboration with scientists from academia, Queensland government and industry partners.

To be successful you will need:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Geology, or a related field.
  • A commitment to research excellence in mineralogy, geochemistry, igneous petrology, or ore geology, with a demonstrated relevant publication track record in leading scientific journals.
  • A proven ability to conduct independent research, as well as to work effectively as a member of a research team.
  • Expertise in acquisition and interpretation of geo-analytical data.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
