The School of Geography & Environmental Science is now seeking to appoint a fixed-term Teaching Fellow in Environmental Sciences and/or Physical Geography to contribute to teaching and teaching administration in support of our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes in Environmental Science and/or Physical Geography. This position is to cover paternity leave.

You will deliver teaching to students at undergraduate and postgraduate taught level, through allocated lectures, tutorials, practicals, fieldwork and/or seminars. In particular, you will be expected to support teaching across areas of physical geography and/or environmental science, first year study skills, and/or field trip activities. An ability to teach aspects of environmental law, GIS and/or remote sensing would also be advantageous. The modality of education delivery will naturally depend on the Covid-19 pandemic status and local conditions, but it is anticipated that the majority of teaching during the 2021/22 academic session will be in-person. The University has clear guidelines and plans for moving between online teaching and in-person teaching as needed. The primary concern underlying all of these plans is for the safety of staff and students. 

You will have, or be about to be awarded, a PhD in environmental science or a related field (or equivalent professional qualifications) and will have some undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching experience. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate complex information effectively, engaging the interest and enthusiasm of the target audience and delivering lectures and practical teaching relating to different aspects of environmental science and physical geography. You will have a positive attitude to colleagues and students with a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
