With funding from SEMLEP we are pilot testing four degree apprenticeship courses in Milton Keynes from 2021 and will be developing relationships with local and regional employers who are interested in sending their apprentices to us for training. We have ambitious plans to grow our corporate relationships and our apprenticeship student numbers rapidly, initially based in the central business district of Milton Keynes and eventually moving to our proposed permanent site nearby.

Why you’ll like working with us

  • MK:U is a new type of education for undergraduate students and apprentices focusing on requirements for the digital era.
  • We have designed our undergraduate education with the successful  careers for students and apprentices as the focal point  .
  • We actively work with industry to keep us accountable for the quality and relevance of the degree contents.
  • We value teamwork and collaboration
  • We prize innovation and experimentation
  • We value diversity and inclusion and aim to attract a diverse range of students and apprentices from a range of backgrounds.

About the Role

This is a new and exciting opportunity to join MK:U’s Education Team which will receive its very first cohort of apprentices in 2021. Reporting to MK:U’s Education Lead, this new role will support apprentices and their employers through four different level six (undergraduate) degree apprenticeship standards; Chartered Manager, Cyber Security Technical Professional, Digital Technology Solutions and Data Scientist.

You will provide individually tailored support for each apprentice and their employer, helping them to demonstrate how their academic learning meets the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the relevant apprenticeship standards. You will be responsible for coaching and supporting apprentices from a range of business sectors, evaluating progress with the apprentice and their employers and advising on submission against the requirements of the End Point Assessments.

You will also actively contribute to the ongoing development of MK:U’s apprenticeship provision, working as a member of with our education team.

About you

We are open to ideas and think creatively about our resourcing needs. We are seeking people to join the team who are as a passionate as we are about the educational needs of our current and future workforce.

To be successful in this role you will have confident coaching skills and have the ability to communicate with a diverse range people at all levels. You will be well organised and able to work to tight, and often variable, deadlines. Importantly, you will be able to collaborate effectively, influence a network of stakeholders and build relationships across a diverse range of organisations quickly, and you will be eager to play a key role in the fast-moving and exciting MK:U project.

A good understanding of the higher education sector and the apprenticeship process will be important for this role as well as technical knowledge in a digital subject. Previous experience of work-based learning or apprenticeship programmes would be an advantage.

Our Values

Our shared, stated values help to define who we are and underpin everything we do: Ambition; Impact; Respect; and Community. Find out more here. We aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together and realise their full potential.

Diversity and Inclusion

Our equal opportunities and diversity monitoring has shown that minority ethnic groups are currently underrepresented within the university and so we actively encourage applications from eligible candidates from these groups.

Flexible Working

We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and whether a position can be carried out at any of our locations.  We commit to exploring the possibilities for each role. Find out more here.
