The Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, offers a unique and adventurous 21st century Asian environment in which we train and educate performers, composers and recording engineers to take advantage of future professional and artistic opportunities both in Singapore and in the world. The Conservatory is distinctively international in terms of its faculty, student population and artistic outlook. Our mission is to be a focal point for musical activity, artistic development and research, both for Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. 

The Conservatory is seeking full-time Teaching Assistant/Instructor appointments with a clear awareness of the Singapore context to work alongside its faculty.

The initial term of appointment shall be for one year (renewable).

Responsibilities of the appointment include:

  • Teaching and/or providing teaching support in the aforementioned areas 
  • Supporting student research 
  • Working closely with faculty and staff to take forward activities and developments in connection with the Conservatory and its stakeholder communities.
  • Reflecting critically on activities undertaken in a manner which enables dissemination of experiences and of best practices.

Qualifications

The successful candidate is expected to have at least a Masters or good Honours degree in Music and a proven record as a musician, with enthusiasm for research linked to their area of musical engagement. As the spectrum of professional opportunities in music is vast, the Conservatory is keen to consider candidates from a range of backgrounds to work as part of a diverse team, connecting with a broad mix of faculty and students. It is anticipated that successful candidates will embrace the Conservatory’s commitment to the highest standards in higher education musical training, research orientation in their identity, with the capacity to deliver across a range of modules embracing Performance, Composition, Recording Arts, Academic Studies and Professional Integration, in both undergraduate and continuing education and training contexts.
