Job description

Are you an experienced practitioner psychologist, who is looking to develop your skills in other areas and is passionate about the maintenance of standards in your profession? This is a unique opportunity to inform and mentor new colleagues entering the profession utilising the reflective scientist-practitioner ethos and ensuring they emerge with the tools and techniques which promote psychological well-being and alleviate psychological distress.

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Psychologists to teach and provide pastoral support on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Queen’s University, Belfast. You will deliver a range of clinical and academic activities for the programme including clinical skills teaching and assessment, evaluation of clinical placements, pastoral support for trainees and interprofessional psychology education.  You will join a programme team whose aim is to deliver excellence in Clinical Psychology training. The programme team are ambitious, compassionate and collegial and strive to innovate and develop the programme. Applicants with expertise in any clinical speciality are encouraged to apply.

The Doctorate programme, which is the only one in N. Ireland, is based in the School of Psychology; a vibrant and collegial department. The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council. At the most recent BPS accreditation visit in 2019, the programme received three commendations. The programme is renowned for its trainee research output, its interprofessional education programme and close working with NHS stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have, and you should clearly demonstrate this in your CV/Cover letter:

  • Undergraduate degree in Psychology accredited by the BPS, or equivalent.
  • Professional qualification in Clinical Psychology and eligible for HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant clinical supervision experience and have undertaken supervision training.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
