Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Law in the Department of Law and Criminology.

The Department of Law and Criminology is part of the School of Law and Social Sciences, alongside the Departments of Economics, Politics, International Relations and Philosophy, and Social Work. We are forward thinking, multidisciplinary and research active. We offer undergraduate programmes in Law, Criminology & Psychology and Criminology & Sociology, together with Masters programmes in Forensic Psychology, Consumption, Culture & Marketing, Policing and Criminal Justice and Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism Studies. We are also home to an energetic postgraduate research student community.

We seek outstanding teachers and researchers to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team. The senior lecturer in Law post is offered on the professional practice track, and experience in legal practice that can support the development of the Student Legal Advice Centre is sought. The senior lecturer in Criminology is offered either on the teaching focussed or the professional practice track and experience in developing educational programmes through non-traditional routes and/or extensive experience of working with criminal justice agencies will be an advantage. One of the lecturer positions will be teaching focussed and will lead on the student life cycle, addressing a priority around student welfare. Experience in distance learning will be an advantage. For the other position, we are seeking to add to our research strength primarily in the area of sustainability. Each of the positions include teaching undergraduate core subjects and we are interested in candidates with teaching expertise in any core subject. In the law posts we are also keen to develop our teaching portfolio in the law relating to environmental law, medical law, contentious property law and private international law but the ability to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of doctoral students and the development of specialist options to reflect specific areas of expertise, is sought. For the criminology post experience of teaching Gender and Crime and Policing will be an advantage. Applicants should possess the broad range of skills needed to teach effectively and as well as core teaching within our existing programmes should be able to contribute to and develop our teaching portfolio. We also expect academic leadership and an effective contribution to programme or department administration or projects improving the student experience.

The post is available from September 2021 or soon thereafter and are based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.

We offer a vibrant and supportive environment, in an internationally recognised and multidisciplinary academic group. We have a strong research culture and good links with legal and Criminal Justice agencies and the NHS, as well as government and charitable organisations.
