Job Opportunity at National University of Singapore for
Research Project on Childless Aging in Singapore and Thailand (CAST)

The postdoctoral fellowship is intended for outstanding active researchers from around the world to work on a mixed methods study that examines the demographics of childless older populations, pathways to childlessness, and the well-being of childless older persons in Singapore and Thailand. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with PIs A/Prof Bussarawan (Puk) Teerawichitchainan (Sociology, National University of Singapore) and A/Prof Christine Ho (Economics, Singapore Management University) in overseeing research project management, conducting data analysis, writing and publishing research papers. The postdoctoral fellowship will also provide support for conference attendance (on application and subject to approval).

Terms and conditions

  • The appointment is tenable for a period of one year, with a possibility of renewal;

Qualifications The applicant should have the following:

Qualifications

  1. A Ph.D. in a social science discipline from a recognized university, preferably in Sociology, Economics, Psychology, and Gerontology;
  2. Research expertise in population aging, family demography, and Asian societies;
  3. Strong quantitative research skills and good publication records;
  4. Candidates who are also familiar with qualitative data analysis are preferred;
  5. Excellent written and spoken communication skills;
  6. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
