The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think-tank in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. IPS is looking to hire hire two Research Assistants for the Policy Lab for a study on long-term homelessness in Singapore. The Research Assistants will have the opportunity to acquire critical research skills, gain field experience and knowledge working with vulnerable populations and benefit from exposure to intellectual exchange and networking. This is a two-year contract.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Have keen interest in ethnographic methods, working with vulnerable populations, homelessness, and housing and social policy
  • Have familiarity with qualitative research methods/analysis and basic competencies in survey design, implementation and using survey analytical tools such as SPSS, R or Python
  • Have strong English communication, with an ability to write in a clear and engaging manner
  • Demonstrate commitment to meeting deadlines and have a track record of producing work that reflects a maturity of thought
  • Have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science discipline from a reputable university
  • Be a good team player and work well with others

Applicants preferably have:

  • Previous work or volunteering experience with the homeless population
