Applications are invited for appointment as Scientific Officer in the Department of Medicine (Ref.: 504248), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Health Sciences or a related field with solid laboratory research experience in cardiovascular system and human stem cell in heart repair and regeneration.  They should have extensive experience in performing animal surgery involving the use of both big and small animals; an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese); and proficiency in PC and research application software.  The appointee will conduct research project in stem cell; and be responsible for experiments on stem cell therapy for small and big animal model of myocardial infarction or heart failure as well as performing technical procedures.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
