DMU is set to open a new overseas campus, offering a range of courses to students in Dubai. Based in Dubai International Academic City, the opening marks the first time DMU has ran a campus overseas and the milestone is part of the university's wider TransNational Education (TNE) programme.

Department

The Dubai Campus will launch with 10 programmes across three faculties, including an International Year Zero. This portfolio will subsequently grow to encompass the broad range of disciplines that are also taught at DMU UK.

The IYZ programme offers an exciting curriculum which prepares students for HE-level learning and enables progression to the first year of their chosen degrees. The programme is underpinned by English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teaching to support the acquisition of language skills and discipline-specific knowledge. The EAP curriculum is uniquely informed by the UN Sustainability Goals (SDGs).

With a common structure and approach, these preparatory programmes will offer innovative teaching and learning, with routes into clusters of degrees across a range of subjects. including the fields of; business, law, social science, engineering, computing, interior design and architecture.

 

The role

We are seeking to appoint experienced EFL / EAP Lecturers and Senior Lecturers to support and lead the development and delivery of EAP teaching in the IYZ and to provide campus English language support for UG and PGT students. You will be joining an enthusiastic team in establishing EAP and the new IYZ programme as a regional centre for English Language excellence. You will help to build professional networks, and play an active role in creating a campus community for students.

Programme Leader: From the applications, we will also be seeking candidates with proven experience of EAP leadership and academic programme management who could also become Programme Leader for the whole IYZ.

 

The person

You will have experience of teaching and assessment in Higher Education, an ELT qualification (DELTA certificate or equivalent / equivalent experience) and a Masters in an English-related discipline (e.g. ELT, Applied Linguistics). You must be passionate about teaching the next generation of DMU graduates.
