Position overview

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

The John Curtin School of Medical Research, Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF) in collaboration with the Scientific Programs Team at the Australian Phenomics Facility seeks to appoint a Senior Technical Officer to implement and run a large scale, high volume RNA-seq project using a boutique library preparation method. This position requires a high level of organisational skills, attention to detail, a commitment to meeting contractual milestones and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment. The role will require experience in relevant aspects of molecular biology including the manipulation of RNA and/or DNA and be responsible for RNA-seq library preparation, QC analysis of samples and data, sequencing, ensuring uploading of data to the client portal, recording associated metadata and reporting on progress.

If you have experience in collaborating with biologists, proficient molecular biology skills in relevant areas such as library construction for Next Generation DNA Sequencing, an interest in complex equipment and strong organisational skills we would welcome an application from you.
